1. 2 sectors of media : Film, music

2. One example of a company from a media sector would be DreamWorks Animation  (film sector) and an example of one of its products is the film Shrek

3. An example of an independent company is the Guardian and a product is has produced is The Guardian newspaper

4. Major media conglomerate : The Walt Disney Company (or Disney for short). Some of their subsidiaries include ; Pixar, Hulu, shopDisney, and Disney Cruise Line.

A few of their key products include Films (eg Inside out, Iron man) and television (eg the act).

5. Joint venture : a business arrangement in which two or more parties agree to pool their resources for the purpose of accomplishing a specific task.

6. A public service broadcaster has to ensure that their programmes provide a varied range in the fields of information, culture, education and entertainment.

7. Value chain : value chain is a business model that describes the full range of activities needed to create a product or service from start to finish and aims to look at and analyse business activities in order to find various competitive opportunities that will improve efficiency and increase profit margins.

8. Synergy : This is the intentional simultaneous release of multiple products in order to boost all of them. An example would be a film and a game about the film being released at similar times to promote each other.

9. Media cross-ownership is a situation in which a single corporate entity owns multiple types of media companies. This allows for synergy as because the companies are close, it is easier to work together and communicate better between companies because the people in charge are all the same so it is less likely fro delays to occur. As well as this, the people in charge know that it will be beneficial for the company as a whole if synergy is involved because both products will get a boost and there is no help given to competition as it’s al inside the same entity.
