Name four planning factors (4 Marks)
1. Legal issues
2. Timing
3. Location facilities
4. The target audience
Identify one cost that Ian needs to consider when developing a social media app called 247Me and explain how these costs impact on the project. (2 Marks)
One cost that Ian will have to consider is the design of the app and how he will achieve the aesthetic that he wants. he could design it himself or hire someone else but either way it is a key part of appealing an audience as it can make the app look more attractive if its pleasant to look at. This will cost a lot for Ian as it needs to be done well.
Identify two revenue stream methods Ian could use to help develop the 247Me app and continue development (2 Marks)
One revenue stream method Ian could use is a sponsorship, if he finds a brand that wants to be associated with his app they can collaborate and both simultaneously earn money from the app. Another method could be crowdfunding, if Ian find an audience big enough and raises enthusiasm for his app, It could insight a large amount of people to want to use the app, and so give what they can in order to see it developed
Identify two types of pre production materials that Ian could use to plan and develop the project. Explain why it is suitable for this type of product. (4 Marks)
One type of preproduction material would be acquiring the right to sound effects, or developing some himself. This would be useful as it could be used to enhance the consumer experience as they would be able to be kept interested by different sounds. This is suitable as it has been seen in other applications, for example an app making a noise when liking an image on social media.
Ella is a Graphic Designer. Discuss how her training and skills could be used when developing the 247Me app (6 Marks)
Ella is a graphic designer, suggesting she has gone to school/ had training in how to piece together art online. It also implies that she is a creative person who enjoys and is confident in making things look presentable. This could be very useful with developing the 247Me app. This is because when people go to buy an app, there are often thousands of different options that deliver similar results. Because of this, people often look for the design of the app that they like the best, they’re most enticed when something pleases their eyes as it not only makes the experience more enjoyable, but it implies that the app will run smoothly and effective as it shows that the app developers have put a lot of time and effort into all aspects of the app. Considering this, it would be very useful to have a graphic designer, because they would likely know a lot about how to entice a customer, for example the right colour scheme, design, and themes to use throughout the app. On top of this, a graphic designer would be able to be a part of the conversation when developing the function of the app, thinking about what layout and orientation would be most convenient for the user, which will therefore ensure that is has a long and successful life on the market.
6)
Identify two legal or ethical issues that Kamran needs to consider before the team develops ideas for a website called Myholidayplanner.com. Explain how these will impact on the project (4 marks)
An ethical issue that Kamran needs to consider is the portrayal of the different holiday destinations. For example its important for him to convey what the area around the destinations are lie, as well as the hotels act because it would be unethical to advertise something as completely different to how it is in real life. an example would be advertising a hotel as family friendly, but in reality it being very unsafe for children/babies. A legal issue Kamran has to think about is the information that goes into the advertisements. For example in different countries the prices could differ, but if the team doesn’t adjust the ads for each country, they could run into legal problems if it goes against each countries individual guidelines. This will impact the project as lots of time and resources will have to be spent looking into the advertisement and hotel laws in each area.
Identify one legal issue which might be relevant when planning the use of assets for the promotional brochure (1 mark)
Weather the company has the correct permission/rights from the owners of the assets in order to put it in the brochure
Identify four regulatory bodies (4 Marks)
1. BBFC
2. PEGI
3. OFCOM
4. IPSO
Identify two regulatory bodies for video games and television with examples of how they rate their products. (3 marks)
One regulatory body for video games is PEGI, which is a European video game content rating system. It rates video games by looking at the content of the game (for example does it have any sex references, drug abuse, heavy violence etc) and confirming what age range the game would be suitable for (for example a PEGI 7 would be suitable for everyone 7 years and older). A regulatory boy for TV is OFCOM; a body that regulates the TV and radio sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, as well as the airwaves over which wireless devices operate. An example for how they would regulate their products would be looking at a reality TV show and ensuring nobody had their privacy breached, and is kept safe at all times. As well as this they also ensure viewers are protected from harmful and offensive content, especially at different age ranges
